About Me

Adventure Photographer Eric Phillips is most known for his images that capture compelling landscapes, human exploration, and outdoor industry news. His outdoor photos have been featured in local and national publications including 5280 MagazineREI Co-op JournalSNEWSElevation Outdoors MagazineAdventure Pro Magazine, and Gear Junkie. Though, his imagery might be most recognized through the digital travel guides and social media channels of Travel Crested Butte, a local travel education company that he joined as a photographer and videographer in 2018. Out There Colorado even recognized Eric as one of the top 15 photographers of Centennial State scenery, in 2018.

Eric’s sharp eye, bottomless motivation, and camera skills are elevated by his navigation prowess and tenacity to seek the hardest-earned perspectives up winding, rugged routes byway of motorcycle, splitboard, snowmobile, or his truck. Eric grew up on the border of Wisconsin and Illinois with a passion for skateboarding, wakesurfing, and snowboarding. He first pursued his craft with a Nikon D3300 when he relocated to Gunnison Valley, where he earned a degree in Recreation and Outdoor Education at Western Colorado University and taught snowboarding at Crested Butte Mountain Resort.

In addition to sharing the planet’s emotive grandeur, Ericprovides outdoor commercial and product photography for an array of entities from Chevrolet and Monarch Mountain to Montanya Distillers, Western Colorado University, and Hydrus Board Tech. Beyond traditional camerawork, he is a licensed drone pilot and storyteller via Instagram and YouTube. He is also co-owner of Quality Stoke, a media venture that produces relatable, accessible, and sustainable outdoor adventure and travel content.

More than any other approach, Eric loves chasing idyllic early morning light or pitch-black astrophotography in the mountains. You can follow Eric’s work or reach out to him on Instagram @phillips_photo.
